This policy explains how the Infinity mobile app (the "Infinity App") handles your information. The Infinity App is provided by Infinity Artificial Intelligence Institute ("we", "us", "our"), 170 St. Germain Ave., San Francisco, CA 94114, United States.
The short version
- The Infinity App is a platform for running AI models on your phone. The models are made by third parties, are not part of the Infinity App, and you choose which ones to use.
- Your prompts, chats, photos, voice recordings and generated images are processed on your device. They are not sent to us, to model publishers or to anyone else, unless you choose to report an AI reply.
- If you report an AI reply, you send us that conversation yourself, from your own email or sharing app. The report includes the whole conversation, its images and some technical details. Nothing is sent to us until you press Send.
- The Infinity App has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting.
- The Infinity App connects to the internet only to find and download AI models. Those requests go directly from your device to the services that host the models, such as Hugging Face.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to train AI models.
1. The Infinity App and AI models
The Infinity App is a tool for running AI models on your device. The models you chat with are not part of the Infinity App. They are made and published by third parties, such as Meta, Google, Alibaba, Stability AI and individual Hugging Face users, under their own licences. You decide which models to download, whether you accept a model the Infinity App suggests or find one on Hugging Face. Each model is downloaded directly from where its publisher hosts it. Suggesting a model in the Infinity App does not mean we made it, own it or endorse it.
The Infinity App runs every model with engines built into the Infinity App. A model is a data file, not a program: it reads only what you give it in a conversation and replies with text, images or speech. Through the Infinity App, a model cannot connect to the internet, read your other files or contact other apps, and nothing you give it is sent to the model's publisher.
A chat model can ask the Infinity App to use other models you have installed, for example to describe a photo, transcribe an audio recording you attached, create an image or read text aloud. These tools also run on your device, and they can only use what is already in that conversation.
Because we do not make or control the models, we are not responsible for the models or for what they produce. Our Terms of Use set out your responsibilities and ours.
2. Information processed on your device
The following information stays on your device. We cannot see, access or recover it, unless you send part of it to us in a report (Section 6).
| Information | What the Infinity App does with it | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Text prompts and chat messages | Sends them to the AI model running on your device to produce a reply | Saved in the Infinity App's private storage as your chat history |
| Photos you attach or take with the camera | Sends them to an on-device vision model | A copy is saved in the Infinity App's private storage |
| Audio recordings you attach (WAV files) | Sends them to an on-device speech model to be transcribed | A copy is saved in the Infinity App's private storage, and its file name is kept in your chat history |
| Microphone audio | Converted to text by an on-device speech model | Kept in memory only while it is being transcribed. Your voice is not saved |
| Spoken replies | Produced by an on-device text-to-speech model | Read-aloud replies are kept in a temporary cache that the Infinity App reuses and your device can clear. Speech a model creates as part of a chat is saved in the Infinity App's private storage |
| Generated images | Produced by an on-device image model, either when you ask for an image or when a chat model creates one | Saved in the Infinity App's private storage and shown in the in-app Library |
| AI model files | Used to run the models you install | Saved in the Infinity App's private storage |
| Settings and preferences | Used to remember your choices, such as your default model | Saved in the Infinity App's private storage |
| Device characteristics (chip and processor cores, graphics and AI accelerators, memory size, available memory, device temperature state, free storage, network type such as Wi-Fi or mobile data, device model, operating system version and, on Android, the reason the Infinity App last closed) | Used to choose a compatible way to run each model, to warn you if a model is too large for your phone, to check there is room for a download, to wait for Wi-Fi before large downloads, to avoid starting a new image when your device is too hot, and to explain if the Infinity App was closed while running a model | Read when needed. Only the device model, operating system version and basic hardware details, such as which processor ran a reply, can leave the device, and only in a report you send |
The Infinity App does not use your operating system's speech recognition service, so your voice is not sent to Apple, Google or any other provider for transcription.
The Infinity App keeps up to 50 recent chats. When you go over that limit, the oldest unpinned chat is deleted automatically. Pinned chats are kept until you delete them.
3. Information sent over the internet
The Infinity App itself uses the internet only for the actions below. None of these requests include your chats, photos, audio or generated images. Reports are not sent by the Infinity App: you send them with another app (Section 6).
Browsing and searching for models. When you open the Models screen or search for a model, the Infinity App asks Hugging Face (huggingface.co) for a list of models. If you type a search, the text you type is sent to Hugging Face as the search term. When you open a model's page, the Infinity App fetches its description, file list and any sample audio from Hugging Face.
Downloading models. When you install a model, the Infinity App downloads its files from the place where that model is published. For most models this is Hugging Face and its content delivery network. One image model offered only on some Android devices is downloaded from Qualcomm AI Hub's public file storage on Amazon Web Services. Some required components may download automatically the first time you set up the Infinity App, after you agree to the setup.
What these services receive. As with any internet request, the service you connect to receives your device's IP address, standard technical details of the request (for example the type of device software making it) and the time of the request. Hugging Face and Amazon Web Services are independent services. They process this information under their own privacy policies, not this one. You can read Hugging Face's policy at https://huggingface.co/privacy.
We do not receive or store any of this traffic, and these requests do not contain any identifier that we created for you.
4. Device permissions
The Infinity App asks for these permissions only when you use a feature that needs them. You can refuse or withdraw any permission in your device settings. The rest of the Infinity App keeps working.
- Microphone: to dictate messages and to talk with the Infinity App by voice. Audio is transcribed on your device.
- Camera: to take a photo and attach it to a message.
The Infinity App does not ask for access to your photo library or your files. When you attach a photo or an audio recording, you choose it in your device's own picker, and the Infinity App receives only the items you select.
On Android the Infinity App also uses system permissions for downloading files in the background, checking whether you are on Wi-Fi or mobile data, and playing audio. These do not give the Infinity App access to your personal information.
5. Information we collect
The Infinity App does not send us any information automatically. We receive information only when you choose to send it to us:
- when you report an AI reply (Section 6);
- when you contact us, for example by email.
When you email us, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, your name as it appears in your email account and the contents of your message. We use it to reply to you and to fix problems you tell us about. We keep it for 24 months after our last exchange and then delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
6. Reporting an AI reply
You can report any AI reply in the Infinity App, for example if it is offensive, harmful or illegal. Reporting is always your choice.
How a report is sent. When you tap Report, the Infinity App explains what the report contains and where it goes. It then prepares a report file (a zip file) on your device and opens your email app, with our address and the report already filled in. If no email account is set up, the Infinity App opens your device's share sheet instead, so you can send the file with another app. Nothing is sent to us until you press Send in that app, and you can cancel at any time. The report travels through the email or sharing service you choose, under that service's own terms.
What a report contains.
- The reply you are reporting.
- The whole conversation it belongs to: your messages, the model's replies, the conversation's title and summary if there is one, and whether a reply was stopped early or failed.
- The images in that conversation, including photos you attached and images a model generated, as long as the whole report stays under about 15 MB. Images that do not fit are listed by file name but not included. Before an image goes in a report, the Infinity App makes a new copy of it from its pixels alone. This removes the metadata stored in the original file, such as the location where a photo was taken, the time it was taken and the camera or phone that took it. If the Infinity App cannot make that copy, the image is left out, never sent as the original.
- The tools a chat model used in the conversation (Section 1): what it asked each tool to do and, when the tool succeeded, the text it returned, such as a description of a photo or the transcript of an audio recording you attached.
- The name and identifier of the model that wrote the reply, the models and engines used in the conversation, and the instructions (the "system prompt") the Infinity App gave the model.
- The Infinity App version, your operating system and its version, your device model, and basic hardware details, such as which processor ran the reply.
- The date and time of the report.
- Through your email app, your email address, your name as it appears in your email account, and anything you add to the message.
A report does not include audio of any kind, such as your voice, audio recordings you attached or speech a model created. Their file names may appear in the conversation. A report also does not include your other conversations or any identifier we created for you. The Infinity App leaves out the places where it stores your files on your device, but an error message shown in the conversation may still mention one.
Because a report contains the whole conversation, it may include personal information about you or about other people, such as names in your messages or faces in photos. Read the conversation before you send a report. If there is something you do not want to share, you can remove the attachment or edit the email before sending, or contact us without the report.
How we use reports. We use reports only to:
- review the reported reply and the conversation around it;
- reply to you if we need more information or have an answer;
- decide whether to change, warn about or stop suggesting a model, or change the Infinity App, to prevent similar replies;
- enforce our Terms of Use and comply with the law.
We do not use reports to train AI models, for advertising or to build a profile of you.
Who sees reports. Only the members of our team who handle reports. Our email provider, Google (Google Workspace), stores our mailbox on our behalf under a contract that requires it to protect the data at least as well as this policy does. We do not send your report or your personal information to model publishers. If we tell a publisher about a problem with its model, we describe the problem without your personal information. We disclose a report to others only when the law requires it, for example to report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children or to respond to a valid legal request.
How long we keep reports. We keep a report for 12 months after we finish reviewing it, and then delete it. We keep it longer only when the law requires it or when it is needed for a legal claim or an investigation of illegal content.
Legal basis. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process a report because you asked us to review it and because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the Infinity App safe and in meeting our obligations to app stores and regulators. Where the law requires consent, sending the report is your consent, and you can withdraw it by asking us to delete the report.
7. Sharing and selling
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. Apart from our email provider and the legal cases described in Section 6, we do not give it to anyone.
The Infinity App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting software. If we ever add a service that receives personal data, we will update this policy before it happens, require that service to protect your data at least as well as this policy does, and ask for your permission where the law or the App Store rules require it.
8. Storage, backups and security
Your information is stored in the Infinity App's private storage on your device, where other apps cannot read it. Its security also depends on your device: keep your device's software up to date and protect it with a passcode.
Your device's own backup service (for example iCloud Backup, or a backup to a computer, or Android backup) may include the Infinity App's data, such as your chats, attached photos and recordings, generated images and speech. Those backups are controlled by you and by your device provider's terms, not by us. You can turn backups off for the Infinity App in your device settings. On iPhone, downloaded models are kept out of iCloud Backup, because they can be downloaded again. On Android, your device's backup may include them.
The Infinity App keeps the report file it prepares only until you make another report or restart the Infinity App, and then deletes it. A copy may remain in your email or sharing app, for example in your sent messages. We protect reports and emails we receive by limiting access to the team members who need them.
9. Keeping and deleting your information
For information on your device, you control how long it is kept.
- A chat: delete it from the chat list.
- A generated image: delete it from the Library.
- A model: remove it from the Models screen.
- Everything: uninstall the Infinity App. This deletes all chats, attached photos and recordings, generated images and speech, models and settings from your device. Copies in your own device backups are deleted according to your backup settings.
Because we do not hold the information on your device, we cannot delete it for you or recover it if you lose it.
For reports and emails you have sent us, email apple-dev@infinity.inc from the same address and ask us to delete them. We will delete them within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep them (Section 6).
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, delete or move it, to object to or restrict how it is used, and to withdraw consent. This includes residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Brazil and US states such as California.
For information stored in the Infinity App, you can exercise these rights directly on your device as described in Section 9. For reports and anything else you have sent us, contact us at apple-dev@infinity.inc and we will respond within 30 days, or sooner if the law requires. We may ask you to write from the address you sent the report from, so we can check it is yours. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We use any sensitive personal information that a report happens to contain only to review the report, as California law allows.
11. Children
The Infinity App is intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. The Infinity App is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a report or email came from someone under 18, we will delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us.
12. International users
Information on your device stays on your device. Reports and emails you send us are received and stored in the United States, where we and our email provider are based. If you are outside the United States, you send that information directly to us in the United States. The laws there may protect personal information differently from the laws where you live. We protect it as this policy describes, wherever you are.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Infinity App changes. We will post the new version at this address and update the "Last updated" date. If a change affects how your information is handled in a significant way, for example if a feature starts sending more data off your device, we will tell you in the Infinity App before the change takes effect.
